City to the Sea Half Marathon
October 14, 2013
STRIDE's A-Team and Health Ambassadors teamed up to host the Kids' Zone and Kids' Fun Run at the City to the Sea Half Marathon in October. More than 200 kids participated throughout the day, and close to 30 STRIDE volunteers made it possible.
Professor Receives $3.2 Million NIH Grant

STRIDE and Kinesiology Professor Todd Hagobian received a $3.2 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for an innovative new research study.
This is Public Health
Several campus organizations, including STRIDE, came together this fall to form the Cal Poly Alliance for Public Health (CPAPH). CPAPH's goal is to increase the awareness and visibility of public health in the Cal Poly community.
Pink and Dude Chefs Roll Out New Curriculum
Pink and Dude Chefs, an after-school nutrition and culinary program designed for middle school students, introduced new curriculum during fall. Titled "Around the World," the curriculum explores international foods.
FoodCorps Evaluation Project
In keeping with its mission of conducting cutting-edge research to advance knowledge of and participation in obesity prevention practices, STRIDE has partnered with FoodCorps. To connect kids to real food nationwide, FoodCorps places service members in limited-resource communities for a year of public service.
FLASH Research Group Seeks Members
Attention all researchers! Cal Poly FLASH data is now available for analysis.
SNAP-Ed
A team of STRIDE students is working alongside our county's public health department to promote nutrition and physical activity at three local elementary schools. An award of a subcontract on a USDA grant makes this outreach possible.
