Bridges to the Baccalaureate

Program Summary

Bridges to the Baccalaureate (BttB) is a partnership between Allan Hancock College and Cal Poly to mentor and train research-oriented students to transfer from associate degree-granting institutions to baccalaureate degree-granting institutions and complete a baccalaureate degree in disciplines related to the biomedical sciences. Biomedical sciences are broadly defined to include disciplines like biology, kinesiology, psychology, statistics, biomedical engineering, public health and microbiology with some focus on application to human or animal health.

BttB is a 2-year program of structured activities aiming to increase the strength of the scientific workforce. The program includes two financially-supported summer research experiences (SREs) at Cal Poly, one year of skills training and support at AHC, followed by one year of advanced coursework and research training at Cal Poly.

Students receive strengths training, robust mentored research experiences, transfer/academic support and programmatic events within and outside the classroom.
