Center for Health Research Students Participate in Statewide Competition

Julian Martinez, a Kinesiology & Public Health senior, represented the Department and Center for Health Research at the 32nd annual California State Research Competition in May. The competition allows students to showcase the research that they have been doing; professional juries rank students.

Martinez, who has been working with CHR affiliate and Kinesiology and Public Health Professor Dr Sarah Keadle, was one of 10 Cal Poly students selected to participate in the competition. His talk, “Validation of Activity Monitor Methods in Classifying Sedentary Behavior in Distinct Activity Domains,” was part of a competition among undergraduates in health, nutrition and clinical sciences. The first place winner was a Stanislaus State University student.
